Series consists of documents related to the role of the Managing Director as the public face of the IMF. The series contains drafts and final copies of speeches delivered by the Managing Director to a variety of events and meetings held outside of the IMF, including the correspondence and invitations related to these events. Many of these public events were held in other countries, therefore the series features travel information for the Managing Director. Documents found in this series include itineraries, meeting agendas and minutes, reports, attendee lists, invitations to social events, and briefings prepared by IMF staff for the Managing Director., Meetings attended by the Managing Director included United Nations meetings, such as the ACC (Administrative Committee on Coordination), ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) and UNCTAD (Conference on Trade and Development). Other meetings attended by the Managing Director include GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade); Paris Club; Group of Five; Group of 7; bankers' groups; and, chambers of commerce., Examples of speeches delivered by the Managing Director include: "Charting the Course to Lasting Economic Recovery"; "Exchange Rates and the Adjustment Process"; "Growth, Debt and International Cooperation"; "Impact of Interest Rates on International Finance and Trade"; "The International Monetary Fund and the Main Problems of the World Economy" and "Problems of the International Monetary System"., Speeches given by the Managing Director at Annual Meetings will be found under the Subject Files Series., Folder titles generally reflect the name of the organization or event attended, or country visited, and are arranged alphabetically. Documents within the folder are arranged reverse-chronologically.
