Series consists of outgoing correspondence created and/or maintained by the Legal Department and covers the period 1946-1980. Topics include: the interpretation of the Articles of Agreement; privileges and immunities of staff employed by specialized institutions; subscription payments by member countries; the staff retirement plan; the issue of self-defense in international law; the United States Loyalty Program and its effect on staff of international organizations; a study on immigration visa; the interpretation of treaties and sovereignty of states; and, China’s membership and representation in international organizations. Files also include progress reports from Division Chiefs to the Director and other administrative matters. An index of documents is available for some years.
