Series consists of an incomplete set of chronological files generated by Division Chief Malcolm D. Knight of the Research Department’s External Adjustment Division during or around the time he was on independent study leave from 1985 to1986. During his study leave, Knight was a Professor for the Centre for Labour Economics in The London School of Economics. Files contain his incoming and outgoing correspondence regarding primarily research publications which he wrote or reviewed and conferences that he attended. Knight’s research topics mentioned in the series include: macroeconomic modelling, balance of payments problems in developing countries, as well as fiscal policies, net savings and real exchange rates in the United States, the Federal Republic of Germany and Japan. Correspondence is exchanged between Knight and colleagues at the IMF and colleagues at economic academics at other institutions. Series is arranged in chronological order, however, file from 1987 has records from only some non-consecutive months.
