Series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence maintained by Richard B. Brenner. Primary correspondents include: senior officers of the Legal Department, and, the U.S. Treasury Department officials. Subject matter covered in the files include: privileges and immunities of staff employed by specialized institutions; the McCarran Act and loyalty, immigration and nationality issues; exchange restrictions imposed for security reasons and the IMF’s jurisdiction in this regard; the IMF and the European Recovery Program (Marshall Plan); the role of the IMF in the post-World War II transition period; use of IMF’s holdings of inconvertible currencies; and, member country compliance with the exchange certificate.
