  • Scope and Content
Division files are records generated by division chiefs as they carried out duties to coordinate and supervise the division's work of monitoring and assessing economic, financial, and related political developments of division countries. The records also reflect the chief's role in leading division collaboration with other IMF departments. Division Files typically cover or refer to all of the countries in the division, such as, for example, regional organization files. They also include subject files and administrative files, however, the majority of administrative files were found to duplicate material summarized in the AFRAI Administrative Files series, and were therefore discarded. Remaining subject files cover the following notable topics: IMF policy regarding use of Fund resources; the Oil Facility; regional organizations; World Bank/IMF collaboration; the Banque Centrale des Etats de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (BCEAO); the Banque des Etats de l'Afrique Centrale (BEAC); Division Chiefs' meetings; and the Structural Adjustment Facility/Enhanced Structural Adjustment Facility. The series has the following kinds of records: memoranda to files and other internal memoranda; reports, minutes, board discussion, correspondence, tables and notes. Files are arranged alphabetically and then chronologically. Where different divisions had files on the same subject, the corresponding division code has been added to the file titles.
