Series is open according to the Policy on Acces to the Fund's Archives. Files will be screened by reference staff for any time restrictions.

Series consists of the chronological files for division chiefs and other staff in the Middle Eastern Department (MED) area divisions. Records are primarily copies of outgoing letters, memoranda and cables sent to other IMF staff, World Bank staff, member authorities, and other external correspondents. As with other chronological series, this series duplicates records which can be found in other MED series, such as MED Division Country Desk Files, MEDAI Country Files and MEDAI Subject Files. However, it also contains administrative records which have been destroyed and which show the management activities of the divisions. The series is not complete because some divisions destroyed their chronological files, especially those prior to 1974. The records reflect all activities of the area divisions, such as, for example: commenting on circulated IMF papers; developing the divisions’ work programs/mission schedules and other budget-related work; mission preparation and reporting; relations with the World Bank and other organizations; and, staff and division administrative matters and comments on Administration Department policies. Files are arranged chronologically by division; the divisions are arranged alphabetically, but grouped according to the chronological era they existed before reorganization and name change.
