Scope and Content
Sub-fonds consists of records created and received by the European Department (EUR) area divisions and their desk economists. The organization of the divisions changed over time in order to balance the work demands that came with new members joining the IMF or in order to provide more focused regional surveillance. In other words, country desks were transferred to different divisions over time. The sub-fonds is arranged into five series: Mission Files, Country Correspondence Files, Country Desk Files, Division Chief Chronological Files and Subject Files. Mission files are records related to IMF staff missions to member and non-member countries. Country Correspondence Files are records received by and sent from Department staff members, mostly but not limited to area division staff members. They include records that cover or refer to all of the countries in the division, such as annual meeting or regional organization files. Country Desk Files reflect the work of desk economists as they monitored and assessed developments in the desk country. Division Chief Chronological files reflect the administrative work of the divisions and the day-to-day work of the division chiefs.
