- Scope and ContentSeries contains primarily copies of outgoing correspondence maintained by Roman L. Horne from the time that he was Temporary Secretary at Bretton Woods to when he became Acting Secretary of IMF. Records include letters, memoranda, and cables sent by Horne or prepared by Horne to be sent by Managing Director or Secretary. Also contains organizational and flow charts, handwritten notes and the occassonal news clipping. Correspondence relates to Executive Board matters, Annual Meeting preparations, comments on proposals, summaries of delegates' visits and meetings, letters of acknowledgement to country members, notices to appointed Governors of the Board and notices of resolution of membership. The earliest correspondence reveals the activities of the new Executive Board and procedures for distribution of documents as well as the processing of applications for IMF membership which later resulted in the Manual on Membership Procedures (1949). Other noteworthy topics include Joint Bank/Fund Library (1946), Student Training Program (1949), par value, Audit Committee and staff missions. Files are arranged in chronological order.
